Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 27, 2025
Your privacy and confidentiality are fundamental to the mission of Friendship Boundaries. We designed this tool to be a private, non-judgmental space for self-reflection. Our core promise is simple: your assessment answers are yours and yours alone.
This policy explains what data we collect, what we don't, and how we protect you.
Our Privacy Promise (The 'TL;DR')
- WE DO NOT collect, store, or share your personal answers from the Self-Assessment.
 - IT'S PRIVATE. All assessment calculations happen only in your browser.
 - IT'S TEMPORARY. Your results are deleted when you close the browser tab.
 - WE DO use standard, anonymous analytics (like Google Analytics) to see how many people visit the site and which articles are popular. This data is never linked to your personal answers.

What Information We Collect (And What We Don't)
1. The Self-Assessment Tool
We have intentionally designed our assessment tool to be completely private. We do not collect, store, save, or share any of the answers you provide in the Self-Assessment.
All scoring and profile calculations are performed directly in your browser (client-side). Your personal boundary profile and the answers you gave to generate it are never transmitted to our servers and are permanently gone when you close your browser tab.
2. Standard Technical Data (Analytics)
Like most websites, we collect anonymous, non-personally identifiable information that web browsers and servers typically make available. This may include:
- Browser type (e.g., Chrome, Firefox)
 - Device type (e.g., Mobile, Desktop)
 - Referring URL (the site you came from)
 - General geographic location (e.g., Country)
 - Date and time of your visit

We use this data through standard analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our site, which articles are helpful, and how to improve our service.
3. Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored on your computer. We use cookies solely for the purpose of running our anonymous analytics and improving the site. For example, cookies help us distinguish new visitors from returning ones.
You can disable cookies at any time in your browser settings. This will not break the functionality of our Self-Assessment tool.
How We Use Your Information
The anonymous data we collect is used for one purpose: to improve the website for everyone.
By understanding which articles are popular or where users might be getting stuck, we can create more valuable, science-based content. We never use your personal assessment answers for any purpose, because we never have access to them.
Data Security & Storage
The most secure data is data that doesn't exist.
Since your personal assessment answers and results are processed in your browser and are never stored on our servers, there is no personal assessment data for us to secure.
For the anonymous website analytics data we do collect, we use standard, industry-accepted security measures and work with trusted third-party analytics providers (like Google) who have robust security policies of their own.
Third-Party Links
Our 'Articles' section may contain links to other websites for resources and further reading (e.g., psychological resources, books by experts like Dr. Nedra Tawwab). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies when you visit them.
Children's Privacy
This tool is intended for adults (18+) seeking self-reflection. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from individuals under the age of 18. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us, and we will take appropriate action (such as removing any related analytics data).
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our website evolves. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the 'Last Updated' date at the top.
